Your First plan: From Thinking Fast and Slow

  • A beige ceramic vase with dried branches on a wooden surface, with a soft shadow cast on the wall.

    1. Optimize Your Environment

Place a small, easily visible sticky note on your computer monitor, phone, or frequently used workspace that simply reads "Pause & Process". This serves as a constant visual cue to engage your System 2 thinking before responding or deciding.

Outcome: You’ll interrupt impulsive decisions at least once today.

  • A beige ceramic vase with a narrow neck and wider body, holding a dried flower and placed on a wooden surface with sunlight creating a shadow on a plain wall.

    2. Start Small with a Simple Habit

Before making any non-urgent decision, no matter how minor (e.g., choosing a snack, replying to a non-critical email), take just 5 seconds to ask yourself: "Is this my quick gut reaction (System 1) or a more considered choice (System 2)?" No need to change your decision, just notice the distinction.

Outcome: You’ll catch yourself before one unnecessary choice.

    2 of 3

  • Two minimalist beige ceramic vases on a light-colored surface with dried flowers in one of the vases against a neutral background.

    3. Track Your Habit Streak

Each time you consciously perform your 5-second 'System Check' habit, mark it somewhere vsible (notes, paper or LevelUp Library later). Tracking your progress will visibly build your streak, motivate you to continue, and solidify this small but powerful practice into a consistent habit.

Outcome: Your streak makes this habit automatic within days.
